WINNING START FOR SECOND TEAM
Final Result – Worcestershire 4.5 – 10.5 Nottinghamshire
The men’s second team kicked off their league title defence with an away match against Worcestershire at a very well-presented Stourbridge Golf Club.
The morning foursomes saw a cagey opening, however as we entered the back nine our strength showed and we prevailed in four of the five matches, with great wins for the pairings of Mike White/Jacob Smith, Cam Steedman/Ben Marro, Darren Kirton/Brett Marsden, and a special mention to Jack Giles and Scott Krokoszynski who fought back from 3 down to win 1 up.
The aim for the afternoon singles matches was to maintain our momentum and to press home our advantage. The lads all played great golf, and again our strength shone through with wins for Mike White, Jacob Smith, Jack Giles, Darren Kirton, Ben West and Sam Sanghera, and a creditable half point for Cam who fought back from 2 down with 3 holes to play.
My thanks to all the players for their commitment over the weekend, they did the county proud. Our next match is away against Derbyshire, where we’ll endeavour to continue our excellent start to the season!
