Second Team – Warwickshire Match Report
The foundation for our early season wins has been built on our foursomes displays, and again our established pairings came out on top in a number of close matches, with excellent performances from the pairings of Darren Kirton / Ben Marro, Sam Humpston / Cam Steedman, and Adam Dorricot / Ross Overton. A win on the last hole ensured we added a half point in the last match, which meant we took a 3.5 – 1.5 lead into the afternoon singles.
We are very fortunate at the moment to have an abundance of talent available, which the afternoon singles highlighted. Despite Warwickshire’s best efforts to try to wrestle back the initiative, our experience and strength shone through. The afternoon saw wins for Darren Kirton, Sam Humpston, Scott Krokoszynski, Adam Dorricot, Ross Overton and Anthony Wain, which delivered a 9.5 – 5.5 result, and consolidated our place at the top of the league.
My thanks to all at Wollaton for looking after us on the day, and a big thanks to Edgar for keeping us up to date with the on course developments. As always it was massively appreciated!
We next head to Bridgnorth Golf Club for a tough fixture against Shropshire and Herefordshire, where we know a win will help us take another step towards our target.
