Mark Betteridge wins
Betteridge Triumphs in his 1st Major Senior event.
Coxmoor’s Mark Betteridge won the prestigious Midland Golf Senior Spring Championship at Coxmoor Golf Club, Mark shot an impressive score of 73 gross (level par) on a very breezy and difficult day. Playing on his home course Mark went out in 1 over par, before playing the back 9 in I under.
Mark recently turned 55 and this was his first major senior event, he already had a impressive record in the men’s game having won the County Championship on two occasions and the Match Play Championship, plus many other 36 hole scratch events.
Congratulations to Mark and to evergreen veteran Charles Banks (Stanton on the Wolds) who also shot level par 73, only losing out on the back 9 to Betteridge, continuing the great day for Notts players Sherwood Forest’s Chris Powell came 4th with a 74 gross.
This is a very impressive start for the Nottinghamshire players and bodes well for the season, with Mark recently joining the ranks, and other notables the future looks great for the seniors.
