FIRST MATCH REPORT
So first game of the season took us to wollaton against local rivals Derbyshire. Today saw a familiar team to last year but with a fresh desire to win. Liam and hoggy started us off winning one up in the morning foursomes. Perfect start. Jacob and young Theo couldn’t quite get it done in the second match and Malc and Mitch had a similar ending to there match. Meanwhile myself and Cole had won 5&3 to make it 2-2 with ash and mark going up the last one up. Unfortunately they lost the last meaning it was all tied at half time 2.5/2.5. Not bad but we know how important the foursomes score usually is. In the afternoon Liam led us out but didn’t play his best and lost. Theo went second and also lost against Derbyshire stalwart nick newbold. Then came hoggy out three and he managed to get a half and Mitch went four against one of there “big dogs” will harvey and also claimed a half. Credit to Mitch for the battle. Malc went out 5 against Derbyshire captain Plummer and got us a massive point on the board winning 4&2. Next came Porter who got hid away a little bit thinking a couple of there big guns would move up their order and I kept him back, he dually delivered his point winning 4/2. As always close to Porter is ash who went 7. After being told he was down early it didn’t look great but ash battled back eventually winning his match 4/2. Now comes the “reliables” out at the back just in case. Cole went out 8 and won pretty easy 2&1 and Jacob got us the point we needed to make sure we won winning 5&3. That left me. Not much to say really other than being dormie 3 down to going down the last to eventually losing 1 down. Massive credit to the lads who never gave up all day and at one point it looked bleak mid afternoon. But a win is a win and you can’t win them all without winning the first one so massive well done to the lads for this one. Next match away at Warwickshire in June
