NOTTS FIRST TEAM WIN WHILE SECONDS TIE WITH S&H
The Midland league match against Shropshire & Herefordshire at Notts GC saw a strong performance and a welcome return to winning ways for the Nottinghamshire 1st team.
The morning foursomes provided a solid foundation winning 3.5 points out of a possible 5 including two very big wins from the pairings of Ross Overton & Jordan Boulton and Cole Betteridge and Mark Porter.
The afternoon singles matches provided a very impressive set of results with no losses in any of the matches and with only 3 halved matches ensuring 8.5 out of a possible 10 points so the overall match result was 12 games to 3.
It was great to have our US college based players involved and on the back great individual performances and results in recent national events - congratulations to Dan O’Loughlin, Jake Benson and Jordan Boulton for their recent successes. All in all a very good performance from everyone involved so in addition to those players already referenced congratulations also go to Sam Allen, Adam Dorricott, Lewis Parker and Killian Ryan too.
We head to the last match on the 1st of September against Staffordshire still with a chance of winning the league as Warwickshire lost their match to Derbyshire - fingers crossed!

Shrewsbury golf club is a nice parkland course and in great condition, and offered greens that were very pure and true. The layout was great for match play and the match turned out to be a close affair.
The group went into this game in great spirits, and I felt with great confidence, in the foursome we seem to be gelling very well and I feel this is down to the stability in our pairings. Again we won the morning foursomes 3-2, a slight advantage but an advantage. The singles was again a close match up but , we finished up losing this session 4/12 5/12 resulting in a 7/12 7/12 draw.
I came away disappointed and frustrated but proud of my boys for the effort and commitment shown.
Over the years we have been strong in the singles, and I feel a good result in the singles is just round the corner, so watch out Staffordshire.
