SENIOR COUNTY STROKE PLAY REPORT
The event had been cancelled the previous week due to the amount of rainfall, but Beeston Fields were great at accommodating the event the following week. There were a few drop outs due to the date change so only a field of 32 played.
The weather was great at the start but a big cloud burst of rain lasted for around 20 minutes made it heavy going.
The winner was evergreen Charles Banks (SOTW) with a level par71; runner up was County veteran Derek McJannet (Coxmoor) with a 73 and in third place was past winner David Brown (Sherwood Forest) with a 76. In the handicap event Peter Higgins (ROT) triumphed with a net 72 on count back from Tony Molloy (Wollaton Park) 72 net, pipping Steve Schofield (Beeston Fields) net 72.
In the age category there were the following winners:
55-59 – James MacLachlan (Notts)-76 – 74 net
60 -64 – Maurice Hume (SOTW)-81 – 77 net
65 –69 – Stuart Pond (Worksop)- 80 – 75 net
70+ - Stan Yeomans (Beeston Fields)- 80 -76 net
Thanks again to Beeston Fields course was in great condition considering the amount of rain we have had.
