FIRST TEAM BEAT DERBYSHIRE
There could be no excuse for poor golf with the course being in breath taking condition. Evergreen Ross Overton (Sherwood Forest) playing with fellow club mate Anthony wain went off 1st against former Notts player James Booth and Darren Coop. the result of the match was a win for Derbyshire 2/1. Off 2nd for Notts was former Derbyshire player Sam Claypole playing with Adam Dorricott, they struggled against a strong Derbyshire pair and went down 5/4. On form Jake Benson playing with Cole Betteridge played solidly and triumphed 3 & 2. Our 4th pair were Sam Allen (recent winner of the individual 10 Counties Boys Qualifier) and Lewis Parker, the result of their match was a win for Notts despite being 2 down with 3 to play. Finally our 5th pair was the experienced Mike White and Alex Hull. The result of this match was a win for Notts as both Mike and Alex played solid golf. Foursomes result – Notts 3 – Derbyshire 2.
Benson got Notts off first in the singles against Booth, a real high-quality match with Jake coming out on top by a 3 & 2 margin. Notable wins for Notts were Ross Overton 2up, Cole Betteridge 2up, the next 3 matches involving Sam Claypole, Sam Allen, and Adam Dorricott were halved. But with Lewis Parker and Mike White claiming a great victory, Notts ran out a comfortable winning 9 ½ to 5 1/2. Special thanks to the Club manager Paul keeling for all his help and the staff at Stanton could not have done more.
It must be said players from both sides were blown away by the condition of the course which as I said earlier was stunning.
