EDDIE PETERS' TROPHY
The new trophy and competition replaced the County Trials which was felt it had passed its sell by date. 36 players competed for both Scratch and Handicap prizes.
The course was well presented, and the Greens staff had made a considerable effort and should be proud of what they produced on the day. Conditions were not easy despite it being a beautiful sunny day.
In the handicap event the very impressive Fred Tindale (The Nottinghamshire) playing off 1 handicap produced a Nett 73, to take the spot in 2nd place was the very experienced Ray Hall from Norwood Park with a Nett 74 edging out Tom Sanghera (Sherwood Forest) on the back 9.
In the main event evergreen and county legend Ross Overton (Sherwood Forest) won with a 73 Gross, winning on the back 3 from Worksop’s Reece Samson, who is turning pro in the next few weeks. We wish Reece well who has performed well for the County over the last few years.
Sherwood Forests Cole Betteridge finished 3rd with a 74 Gross.
Special thanks to our starter Alan Benson, NUGC Past President and to Antony Ryder the Beeston Fields Professional who’s help and assistance both on the day and prior to the event was very much appreciated. Finally, special thanks to Beeston Fields in hosting the event which is the first of many. If the rest of the year’s events go as well as Sunday it can only get better as the golfing season moves forward. The County cannot wait to return for the next event which is the Amateur Strokeplay and Open on Saturday 25th May 2019.
