COUNTY FIRST TEAM LOSE TO WARWICKSHIRE
The opponents were top of the league. If Notts were to win, we would have a great chance of winning the league, and we were unbeaten in all matches to date.
Warwickshire are a very strong team throughout, so it was going to be hard fought. The morning foursomes did not go Notts way losing 4-1. We were unlucky to have that result, buts that's golf - so all to do in the singles.
This team knows how to fight and made a great start by winning the first two games courtesy of Jordan Boulton and Reece Samson. Tom Hamson narrowly lost the third match, so 5-3 at the moment to the visitors.
Sam Claypole had a fantastic tussle in which he alone had seven birdies and got us a half point. Well battled Sam. Adam Dorricott also snatched a half on the last hole, again fighting to the end. At this point it was 6-4 to the visitors then Callum Fern wins his match. Now 6-5 and the visitors are not so comfortable. Despite more great efforts from James Booth and Alex Hull both getting tremendous half points on the last hole Notts came up just short. We won the afternoon singles 5.5 -4.5 but the match went to Warwickshire 8.5-6.5.
Seven matches went down the last, a fantastic effort from the team yet again. I'm proud of you all.
Though we can't now win the league with one match to play, we move on and keep positive.
