The Nottinghamshire Centenary Quaich Competition
will be held over the course at the
Sherwood Forest Golf Club
on Saturday, 26th July, 2008
Eighteen holes Strokeplay Scratch and Handicap Competition for teams of two players representing golf clubs affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs which have celebrated their centenary year.
Prizes will be presented to the club team of two players with the lowest aggregate sum of the scratch and nett scores.

The competition is open to players of amateur status as defined by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and who are members golf clubs affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs.
The tournament will be limited to teams of two players having qualified through their respective golf clubs which have reached their centenary year.
Qualification shall be through a club medal in which the scores of the leading scratch player and handicap player shall be used to determine the team of two players to represent the respective club. In the event of the leading player not being able to compete in the Centenary Quaich Competition a club may substitute the runner-up, etc.
The winners of the Centenary Quaich Competition shall be determined by taking the lowest aggregate scratch score and handicap score of the two nominated players,
Ties in the 18 hole events will be decided over the last 9 - 6 - 3 - 2 - 1, -15 or 12 holes in that order.
The names of the nominated players must be received, at the following address, by not later than 12.00 noon on Monday, the 14th July, 2008, on the specified form attached below:

THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE FOR THE COMPETITION
No entries will be accepted by telephone or after the closing date for entries.
The draw and starting times will be communicated to each Golf Club prior to the competition.
The Committee of the Union reserve the right to refuse an entry of any of the intending competitors.
Competitors may use motorised golf carts on medical grounds only, and only when the golf club allows their use.
If a player suffers from a condition which may require urgent medical attention [e.g. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, etc.] it is important the player notify a member of the Committee and direct the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs accordingly in the event of an attack.
Neither the Sherwood Forest Golf Club or the Nottinghamshire Union of Golf Clubs accept any responsibility for the loss or theft of a player’s golf equipment or personal effects and player’s are advised to carry adequate insurance cover
Conforming golf balls: The ball the player plays must be named on the current List of Conforming Golf Balls issued by the R & A Rules Limited. Penalty for breach of the condition: Disqualification.
Conforming golf clubs: Driving clubs must not have a characteristic time greater than 257 microseconds when measured on pendulum testing apparatus approved by the R & A Rules Limited. See Appendix II, 5a of the Rules of Golf. Penalty for breach of the condition: Disqualification.
Any points arising in connection with the play will be settled by the Committee appointed for the purpose of this competition whose decision shall be final.
