In 1965 the system of appointing the County President was changed by a resolution made at the Annual General Meeting. From that date the President was appointed upon the recommendation of the NUGC Executive Committee. Prior to that date the County President was appointed on an annual basis, and was usually the Captain of the Club over which the County Championships were played.
